ALLIANCE 2018 RETIREE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

April 17,2018

President Peter Ruszczak, Treasurer Leigh Hunt and Legislative Aide Greg Duck met with leaders of NY Public Employee Retiree Organizations, at the concourse in the NYS Legislative Office Buildings.

We combined our efforts with other leadership and members of The Alliance of Public Retiree Organizations of NY (APRO). The Alliance is an organization comprised of several public employee retiree organizations including United Police & Fire Retiree Association (UPFRA), NYS Public Employees Federation (PEF), NYS Management/Confidential Employees (OMCE), NYPD Retirees, Retired Police Association (RPA), NYS Encon Police Retirees in addition to numerous Fire Retiree associations to name a few. The Alliance reportedly represents combined concerns of 1,400,000 retiree voters statewide.

The entire day was spent meeting with various NYS Senate/Assembly members and their staff both individually and in groups. Specific "Talking Points" were shared by all lobby participants as we solicited support for the Alliance Legislative Agenda. UPFRA members met individually with Senators John DeFrancisco (50th), Frederick Akshar (52nd), David Velasky (53rd), Mr Niko Ladopoulos Director of Legislation for Patrick Gallivan (59th) and Assembly member Al Stirpe (127th).

The following is the legislative agenda that was the main focus of discussions:

"UNITED WE WILL PREVAIL ... DIVIDED WE WILL FAIL"
